Why Make Static Instances of Non-Static Objects?

Hi, I'm new to programming and was wondering if someone could explain why someone would ever make a static instance of a non-static object. What purposes could that serve?

Basically I'm trying to understand the declaration of the ShoppingCartModel object at the top of this image:

If you want access non static object inside static method then you need to declare object as static.

In this case the reason is simple. Your code runs in Main() which is a static method. Static methods cannot access non-static class properties/variables.

If you move the declaration of your cart to the Main() method, then you can remove the static, but you'll need to pass the cart as a parameter to the Populate method.
