Why do not restore the differential backup file?

Why do not restore the differential backup file into the existing database in SQL 2008?

First, I restore the full backup file into the new database and second, restore the differential backup file into the new database.But , I can't restore the differential backup file.Please, advice me.

The error is ,
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The log or differential backup cannot be restored because no files are ready to rollforward. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)

Please answer me.
