What is Table Partitioning ?

Table parition is a very big topic. Refer below link to understand the concept of partitioning.

In short, partitioning is used for moving data from parent table to partition table if data count is very high for a table. We can define a range where a data for specific range can move to partition table. A range could be Date column in a table.

Partitioning enables tables and indexes or index-organized tables to be subdivided into smaller manageable pieces and these each small piece is called a "partition".
