What is await Task.Delay(500) And why use

What it will do:->this method will hold your Task (whatever the task you have assigned to particular thread)thread for 500 millisecond.  

Why we do that:-> It uses when we want to execute multiple methods asynchronously(Not one by one), the best example is when we write operations for I/O and we want to handle machine request/response accordingly 

if you use Task.Delay(500); in your code

 

program will wait for 5 seconds(500).

 Task.Delay() function is to make a delay.

with task.delay you can make the program wait for that many milli secs then the next line of code is executed

 

generally it is used to wait for some resource to be ready or if you are monitoring some resource - wait till next data arrived

 

e.g. if I program a windows service to monitor a shared folder for any data file, i can make it wait for let's say 5 minutes before it is executed again
