What does sender mean?

Hi All, I am beginner of VB.NET, pls can anyone tell what sender mean in the code below. Thks Dim trkSpeed As TrackBar = CType(sender, TrackBar)

In the .net documentation, you will find that CType will take an object as first argument (in your case it's sender), and get/return the object type identified as the second argument (in your case it's TrackBar).
