What are the best resources for learning LINUX OS?

Well, Linux itself is a very broad topic to be covered in an article, or a book itself. Therefore, multiple books are devoted to serving the purpose of the understanding. There are various books written. But since you are a beginner, I would recommend that you get a book for Ubuntu operating system.

For example, here are the lists of free ebooks based on Ubuntu, http://askubuntu.com/questions/575/list-of-free-ubuntu-books. You should understand them, try them out and then move onwards. The benefits of understanding Ubuntu are,

You still get to learn Linux
Ubuntu has GUI as well, GUI can help you in many cases.
There are other high-level features; such as email clients etc.
