Use ProgressBar to show function execution progress

I want to show the execution progress of my function using a progress bar.When a user clicks a button the function starts to be executed and i want to display the progress of its execution time using a progress bar.Please help.Thanks in advance.

The function reads words in a text file and display them.So as it reads i want the progress bar to show how the execution is progressing.THANK YOU.
