You are right about the analogy, but in today's world, the competition spans geographies. There may be explanations, but no excuses..

It is not advisable to compare Universities in developed countries and in developing countries. It is something like asking adult and child to run race and comparing them. Similar things have similar situation to compare.

Where is that list from? Is it the World's Best Universities; Top 400 Universities in the World | US News? I notice that there are none in the western USA but the next two are in California (Stanford University and California Institute of Technology (Caltech)). The list varies significantly depending on who is doing it. According to The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2011-2012 Caltech is #1 and Stanford is #3.
Note that those links in that list have the target set so the links open in new windows. I would fix that except the editor window does not show the tabs at the bottom of this editor window for switching to HTML view.

That is correct my friend. One thing I have noticed. Indian education system does not allow courses to be changed based on the current affairs. In US, what I have noticed is, if I am reading a social studies book today, I will have events reflected from last year. That makes is a big difference. We can't be reading 20 years old books. This is what makes UK and US system the best.

For example, if I am reading a book on Social Activities and Project Management written 5 years ago, everything is totally changed in last 5 years.

There is no University from India in top 10 list.All good universities are located in United States and United Kingdom.
