to make a timer in c#

Environment.TickCount; is a .NET framework call that returns number of milliseconds since the operating system has been running for. you can use this to determine number of seconds/milli's elapsed between to times. here is how u would use it. let say you want to find out how long it takes for a function to complete int start = Environment.TickCount; myFunctionCall(); //this function will have some code in it for execution. int end = Environment.TickCount; //finding the difference int totalSecondsElapsed = (end - start) /1000 //division by 1000 is to get from milli to seconds. so u can use this technique in an if statement to determine if number of desired milli/seconds have passed since an event has occured. read more up on TickCount TickCount is the equivalent of GetTickCount widely used in c++ and vb6

But i needed something else to like this int sec=DateTime.Now.Second; TimeInString+=":" + ((sec<1)?"0" + sec.ToString() :sec.ToString()); because it is like sending an message with a mobile phone.When i push 2 times in a second I need to get the b... Sorry, I just discovered there is no Double-Click event in .NET. If that's what you want, then I'll have to find out how it can be simulated and get back to you if and when I can get an answer. (Or maybe someone else knows how to do it.)

I'm still not sure what you meant. If you press the button after waiting a second time, you get the "a" again? And if you press it very quickly twice you get a "b"? If that's the case, then all you need is a separate double-click event. That way you can click once on the same button to get an "a" and double-click on the same button to get a "b".

All you need is a form-level counter. In C#, place this line: public static int count = 0; in the public class Form1 section. Then increment the count in the button-click event and use switch to print the character depending on the value of count. If count reaches the last value in the switch case, then reset it back to 1. Use the same button to print a different character each time you press it. I think that i need to work with a timer because they said that when i push the button1 than i need to get an a, when i push it again in a sec i need to get the b. When i push on button1 again it most be possible that i get an a again. button 1 = a b c button 2 = d e f and so on. A gsm is a mobile phone. Thx for your replie greets

Your question is clear as mud. Exactly what are you trying to do? Use the same button to print a different character each time you press it? Print several characters in succession in the same textbox every time you press a different button? What does a timer have to do with all this? And what is a GSM anyway? Please explain and maybe someone can help you.
