If you meant by variables using a "DECLARE" , they store in tempdb database, by default. But They exist only for the duration of the batch that created them. Once it's executed, they're gone. For much faster performance you can memory-optimize your table variable. So it's a wider area to discuss. Temporary variable is a one which are partially stored in the memory and it cannot be accessed by any other user. It is laid out like table and act variables. This variable gets drooped once it comes out of batch. The temporary variable declaration should start with @ sign. We cannot able to crate the indexes on temporary variables explicitly but it is possible to add primary key with it.

DECLARE @Customer TABLE

A table alias cannot start with a @. So, give @Temp another alias (or leave out the two-part naming altogether):

SELECT *
FROM @TEMP t
WHERE t.ID = 1;

Also, a single equals sign is traditionally used in SQL for a comparison.
