splitting a string into an array of strings

split the string into an array of strings, stored in the words string array,

and then find out which word is the longest, and copy that to the longestWord variable

using System;

namespace HelloWorld
{
class Program
{
static void Main(string[] args)
{
string lyric = "We've come a long long way together";
string[] words;
string longestWord;
words = lyric.Split(' ');
longestWord = lyric;
Console.WriteLine("There are " + words.Length + " words, and the longest is " + longestWord);
}
}
}

using LINQ is pretty much easy. Here's an example:

using System;
using System.Linq;
namespace HelloWorld
{
public class Program
{
public static void Main(string[] args)
{
string lyric = "We've come a long long way together";
string[] words = lyric.Split(' ');
string longestWord = words.OrderByDescending(n => n.Length).First();
Console.WriteLine("There are " + words.Length + " words, and the longest is " + longestWord);
}
}
}

And here's an example without using LINQ:

using System;
namespace HelloWorld
{
public class Program
{
public static void Main(string[] args)
{
string lyric = "We've come a long long way together";
string[] words = lyric.Split(' ');
var longestWord = string.Empty;
foreach(var word in words)
{
if(word.Length > longestWord.Length)
longestWord = word;
}
Console.WriteLine("There are " + words.Length + " words, and the longest is " + longestWord);
}
}
