SharePoint 2013 external url is not functioning

Hi All,

Few days back our SharePoint 2013 main url was not functioning and we were using an AAM (External url) url. Now, main url is functioning but the external url is down.

Is this issue with ISS Handler ? Could you please let me know the exact reason and solution for this problem...

Three things you need configured properly to get it working:

1. Windows Authentication is Enabled on the SharePoint site in IIS. By the way, this should be turned on by default.
2. Configure AAM. I have two that I've setup. One for Intranet and one for Internet. They are http://intranet and https://intranet.company.com
3. Configure a CNAME DNS record in the Forward Lookup Zone for your domain pointing Intranet to the FQDN of the SharePoint server

This is pretty much a standard setup and you're not cramming a square into a round hole. You also need to make sure that you have added an AD user to the site. So if you have it setup properly and you are properly logged in to your domain, when the SharePoint page loads, you will not be prompted to sign in and it will show your name in the upper right corner of the page.

Please check if you have mapping for external url in IIS web site.

More information required...What you mean by not working url?
what's the error you are seeing? any error in event log etc?

are you using loadbalancer? is the DNS properly registered? what is your AAM settings?
