Session Mode use outproc mode in ASP.NET?

In general Inproc is the default mode of session.

Outproc mode comes by selecting the "state server" in session mode.

What exactly happens with Inproc mode :

In this mode our session variables will be stored in server side. But if we disable the w3wp.exe process the session variables are going to be washed away.

Apart from the URL let me give some small clarity :

Our application will be running from IIS.

Within IIS we will can create application pools.

In one single application pool we can add multiple projects or web sites.

If the concern application pool was creashed all the projects also gets to be restarted.

Now lets discuss about the outproc :

From the above if the application pool or w3wp was crashed or stopped the "web development server(appears as a icon on the taskbar)" the entire application looses the information here comes our concept session, so we are loosing our session values too.

But loosing the session values is not correct. If we feel still the session values need to exists then we had to think about the "outproc" by "state server".

What and how state server maintains session values even if our w3wp crashed out ?

state service holds the session values even if the web development server was stopped or crashed.

To enable state server go to Control Panel find Administrative Tools again find Services.

It shows all the services.

From all those find the "ASP.Net State Service" and enable it.
