Related Tables

You need to know the entity-relationship model from which your database tables derive. That will tell you what the relations are. In a dataset, you not only set up DataTables, you also can set up DataRelations. Then if you delete a row from a parent DataTable when time comes to process dataset against database the DataAdapters will take care of child deletions for you. But further, you need to process the tables in a given order. Do dataAdapter.Update() method on a select("","",rowsdeleted) set of datarows from the child table - then do that for the parent table. Then do that for select("","",rowsModified) for the parent table, then same for the child table. Then do select("","",rowsInserted) for the parent table, then same for the child table. Go to visual studio->help->search->"dataset" and trawl through the documentation, you will find this explained and code examples galore. I already have all this stuff working.

If you are just displaying a warning message, I assume the user can override, and delete the record anyways? If so, you can not have any referential integrety in the database. This also means you will have to manually check each table that the record can be related to, and handle it accordingly
