Realtime implications with using the .NET framework

Does anyone know of any realtime data acquisition impacts with using .NET? I have to acquire and display data in realtime and am wondering if running the .NET framework will impact on the data acquisition performance.

Hy i am also having this kind of problem, i need to get data form ISA card, how it has to be done?

I suspect it won't, but I think we need to hear more details. How are you acquiring data? Through the serial port? Through the parallel port? Through a card in an ISA or PCI slot? Is there onboard memory for caching the data? Are you displaying the data graphically? -Mike

I have zero experience on it other than fixing some data acquisition and phone call center systems in earlier years. I do know that Star Networks just deployed a bunch of ATMs (MAC machines for we mid-atlantic folks) using WinXP pro on RAM cards (boot to operation in about 3 seconds), so I'm betting it's DOT-NET-ized. I still know dozens of phone call centers using voice response systems on OS/2 with C++ (borland) and some REXX code (now THAT'S some serious hang time folks) because it WORKS. My brother in law works at ICI Americas (Chemical company) and they were replacing about a zillion data acquisition terminals for the machine monitoring devices. When I used to service them they were Windows PCs running some home-grown apps (built by ICI and its contractors) so I'm willing to be .NET will be making its way there soon if not already. *shrugs* Could go either way :)
