Reading strings verbatim with quotes

Thank you very much. Yes that works, although I don't understand exactly why. The backslash is an escape character. So it also makes things be read verbatim?

How about this: string Identifier = "\">"; Will it work for you?

This is the example in VS: string test = @""Ahoy!" cried the captain."; This works becuase there are two matching quotes inside. I am trying to turn this into a string: "> string Identifier = @"">"; // doesn't work :(

A little explanation and some code would be helpful.
