reading int from text file

yeah i know about the binary reader... but we're only working with text files here... anoter solution would be to convert the text file to binary mode and then read... but what if you want to read something like: string1 number1 number2 string2 ... that is, both strings and integers.. ? well, i read ech line as text, used some char delimiters and then the convert method.. thanx for the replies guys

I think the BinaryReader here is what you want if you want to read numbers from text files. Unless of course, you want to parse the text into an int, in which case you have to read text and parse.

You can also use the int.Parse() method ex. int num = int.Parse("1234");

Take a look at Convert. With this as your weapon you can convert nearly anything. Convert.ToInt32 ( string s );
