I understand that this is an older post, but for those still seeking an answer, the LEADTOOLS Barcode SDK allow you to use the Xamarin Camera Control to live capture barcodes on a mobile device.

You can leverage the CameraView class which will allow you to access a mobile device's camera. You can access the frames received from the camera using the FrameReceived event, then take that frame and detect/extract barcodes/QR codes using the BarcodeReader class.

For an example see the code below:
