Progressbar

i am  not very much clear about the working of progress bar . i searched in forums ,but i couldnt understand anything .

i want to use a progressbar in a form. if we click on a button that progressbar has to display for 1 minute . i also dont know how to associate timers with progressbar

if anybody has simple code for this please past
