If you research what is currently in demand then you will get different results. It is not clear what exactly is demand. Apparaently Python, C++, C, Java, C# and JavaScript are the most in demand but it is not clear what the order of popularity is.

Note that environment is important. C++ is used for most anything except not much in websites. And for websites, WebAssembly makes it possible to use most any language in a browser therefore JavaScript might declline in use in the future.

One of the earliest users of C who co-authored the book about the C languge got frustared with Rust and says he thinks it will not grow in use as much as many people think.

I’d say Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Rust are going to stay hot in 2025 — Python for AI and data, JS/TS for web apps, and Rust for performance-critical systems. Go and Kotlin/Swift will also keep growing for cloud and mobile.
