Pointers in Csharp

Notice that C# only supports pointers to value types (structs or enums), to strings or to arrays. If the value or object is stored on the heap, then it must first be 'pinned' to ensure that the garbage collector doesn't move it in memory whilst the pointer is being used. Pinning is done using the 'fixed' statement.  

Pointers to reference types other than strings or arrays are not allowed, nor can you take a pointer to a struct which contains reference type fields.

However, subject to certain restrictions, you are allowed to create inline and stack-allocated arrays in unsafe code and traverse them using pointers.
