picking up parameters

If I were to call up a page .../my.aspx?myid=007 how would I pick up the value of myid in the c# code?

To get the value of querystring you can use: string myid = request.QueryString["myid"];

I think you are going to have to look at the session object, this should allow you to use variables in a stateless environment
