PasswordSignInAsync succeeded always false

I extended the IdentityUser by adding a field and make it as ApplicationUser and use the UserName instead of Email in login using the code below

var result = await _signInManager.PasswordSignInAsync(Input.UserName, Input.Password, Input.RememberMe, lockoutOnFailure: true);

But the problem is result.Succeeded is always equals to False even if I enter the correct UserName and Password..

Hi,

First you need to find user by email then use PasswordSignInAsync as shown
var user = UserManager.FindByEmail(email);
return await PasswordSignInAsync(user.UserName,password,isPersistent,shouldLockout);

Hi Amit,

Yes they are different. in Login, only UserName and Password that's why I can't use this code.

ApplicationUser signedUser = UserManager.FindByEmail(model.Email);
var result = await SignInManager.PasswordSignInAsync(signedUser.UserName, model.Password, model.RememberMe, shouldLockout: false);

By the way, I'm using Asp.net Core 3.0. Is there a way to extract or I can debug the PasswordSignInAsync?

Hey I think your user name and email are different. If so then comment the below line.

var result = await _signInManager.PasswordSignInAsync(Input.UserName, Input.Password, Input.RememberMe, lockoutOnFailure: true);
and add this

ApplicationUser signedUser = UserManager.FindByEmail(Input.Email);

var result = await SignInManager.PasswordSignInAsync(signedUser.UserName, Input.Password, Input.RememberMe, lockoutOnFailure: true);
or check that had you add the below line to method public void ConfigureAuth(IAppBuilder app) in App_Start\Startup.Auth.cs

app.CreatePerOwinContext(ApplicationSignInManager.Create);
