What is the method of overloading in java?
when a class has multiple methods having the same name but different arguments in the parameter it is known as method overloading.
This is an example of method overloading in java here we use three methods with the same name but different no of arguments or different data types now we call the same methods using class objects corresponding methods called as per no of arguments or data types.
class AreaOverloading
{
    void Area(float a)
    {
        System.out.println("The area of the Square is "+Math.pow(a, 2)+"\n");
    }
    void Area(float a, float b)
    {
        System.out.println("The area of the Rectangle is "+a*b+" \n");
    }
    void Area(double a)
    {
        double result = 3.14 * a * a;
        System.out.println("The area of the Circle is "+result+" \n");
    }

     public static void main(String args[])

Method overloading is also known as compile time polymorphism. It is also known as static binding. Method Overloading occurs within the same class only. In method overloading, we have multiple methods having the same name but a number of arguments or types of arguments must be different. The return type of method does not play any role in method overloading.
Example:
class abc{

        public void add(int a,int b){
            System.out.println(a+b);
        }

        public void add(int a,int b,int c){
            System.out.println(a+b+c);
        }


    public static void main(String args[]){

    abc a1=new abc();
    a1.add(10,20);
    a1.add(10,20,30);

    }

Method overloading happens inside the same class. In order to overload a method there are three ways number of parameters, data type of parameters and sequence of data type of parameters.Method Overloading is a feature that allows a class to have more than one method having the same name, if their argument lists are different. It is similar to constructor overloading in Java, that allows a class to have more than one constructor having different argument lists.
when I say argument list it means the parameters that a method has: For example the argument list of a method add(int a, int b) having two parameters is different from the argument list of the method add(int a, int b, int c) having three parameters

    public void disp(char c)
    {
         System.out.println(c);
    }
    public void disp(char c, int num)
    {
         System.out.println(c + " "+num);
    }
    public void disp(int num, char c)
    {
         System.out.println(c + " "+num);
    }
}
