For now, we can disable the Thumbs down option. But let this not discourage anybody. We are also going to add a message in the notifications asking user to mark posts if it has helped them.

As per proper name goes, you can't really tell what is proper name. Anybody can have any name like "abcde". There is no way to check it. If those people are serious to get some help, they will eventually change the name.

 I dont' understand why admins not taking care of basic things like these instead of recreating all the websites.

 There is no check or validations for member names.

 Ratings not working, then why not removing it. etc..

 
 I have seened lots of discussions about these since i joined last year.

 Still everything the same.

There are no easy answers. Forums try to use easy solutions but for things like this easy solutions don't work. Mahesh sometimes helps and when he sees a member using a name that is inappropriate for some reason then he asks the member to change the name and he does other things like that but he is busy and does not have the time to do things like that all the time. There are not other moderators so other members need to volunteer to do things such as telling members to accept answers, to not post duplicate questions and other things. So then some members don't like it. Some members post vague questions and when they don't get the answer they want, they create a new thread instead of clarifying a previous one. Those are the members that are especially likely to protest if they are asked to not do that.

One thing that would help is to have rules that are clearly stated and a way to easily refer to them. For example, instead of saying "please don't use an inappropriate name" we can say "see rule number n" but it would help to be able to link to the rule or something so the member won't say "I don't know where the rules are". It would also help to make it clear that it is appropriate for members to do things like that. It should be officially defined.

Also, if there is a rating system, it needs to be done carefully because otherwise it could cause some good people to leave.

Did you mean Thumbs Up? This is not being considered for the valuation at this point but it will be. When we use it, members can only use it once :)
