Moving from PHP to C#

Hi :) I am currently using PHP5 for development and have been using PHP for 2 years. I am thinking about moving on to C#, how difficult would it be to switch to C# ? (is the syntax similar etc.) Does anyone know of some good tutorials and/or books I should begin with, if I want to learn C# ? Which IDE should I use ? Any other advice for a newbee would be welcome :)

I changed over from php3 to php4 to c# no problem at all. Declaring variable is new but you get use to it. A big advantages is the .Net enviroment. A lot better than working in a notepad editor which i always did in PHP. Debugging is a big advantage too. Do it and you will soon have your first programs Good luck Jasto

As for tutorials. Download the .NET SDK and give the quickstart a spin. Plenty of good samples and tuts in there. c-sharpcorner.com also has a lot of articles you can use. As for an IDE. Ofcourse I'd recommend Visual Studio since, quite simply, you won't find a better one, ever. But, it's pretty expensive. As a replacement yI'd recommend SharpDevelop. It's an open source IDE built with C#.. it's sort of a mini-Visual Studio. Also has a nice Formdesigner and such more. Ofcourse, if ur really hardcore, you'll want to use notepad or summin like that :-)
