Hi all,

I want to migrate Sharepoint list from Site to another site (with Data).

I have used List Templates, successfully moved. All lookup columns are brack.

I need an alternative solution for migrating Sharepoint list.

anyone Help me to Fix the issues.

For breaking of lookup columns which means they tend to loose the parent relation of reference column.

So on the site where you want to migrate your list, you need to connect them again for getting up lookup feature.

1. Export the list
2. Change the extension to ".cab".
3. Extract contents, go to manifest file and replace the old list GUID with new id(This mean new list which you created as parent for your lookup column)
4. Recreate package and convert it to .stp again.
5. Upload the file. Now your connection for the lookup columns will work with their parent list.

Here is an step by step explanation of migration,

A SharePoint list is a collection of data that gives you and your co-workers a flexible way to organize information. Follow the steps mentioned below to migrate a list from one site collection to another.

Step 1: Export the list
Login to SharePoint and go to List Settings.
Under the Permissions and Management section click Save list as template.
Step 2: Export list to another site collection
On the top-level site of the site collection containing the list that you want to copy, click Site Settings.
In the Galleries section, click List templates.
On the List Template Gallery page, select the check box next to list template that you want to export.
In the ribbon Click Download a Copy.
Step 3: Uploading the list to a new site collection.
You should now have a .stp file. Now go to the site collection you want to copy the list to.
Click Site Settings.
In the Galleries section, click List templates.
Click on the Documents tab.
Click Upload Document.
Click Choose File and navigate and choose the .stp file you downloaded.
Click Ok.

You will not lose versions if you use the parameter -IncludeVersions All

Updated code below -

Export-SPWeb -Identity “http://sitecollection/subsite” -ItemUrl “/subsite/lists/ListTitle” -path “c:\temp\listbackup.txt” -IncludeVersions All

Import-SPWeb -Identity “http://sitecollection/subsite” -ItemUrl “/subsite/lists/ListTitle” -path “c:\temp\listbackup.txt”

Export and import Data from List/library. we lose versions.
we need version also

You can use Powershell to achieve the same -

1. Export the list -

Export-SPWeb -Identity “http://sitecollection/subsite” -ItemUrl “/subsite/lists/ListTitle” -path “c:\temp\listbackup.txt”

2. Once the export is complete, import the backup from the same location -

Import-SPWeb -Identity “http://sitecollection/subsite” -ItemUrl “/subsite/lists/ListTitle” -path “c:\temp\listbackup.txt”
