MBA after having 2 yrs Work Exp as Sharepoint Developer

Hi, I am working as a Sharepoint Developer for 2 years now. But still I am not satisfied with the package that I am getting. I am considering an option to go for MBA. Will it be good for me or should I continue with this technology itself?

Sir,
I am still not able to take a final decision on whether I should go for MBA or not.

What would you suggest me to do?

Need some advice desperately because I am still confused as to which is better option for my career.

Hi,
Off-course SharePoint or any development job has nothing to do with other domain. But experience are the best learning scope and they always get regards and help you in your career path.

Remember, your this 2 years experience is not considered for salary/job-grade in management field but will be regard.(for your first break/job in management field or any other field)

Later on, you can justify this experience in your career scope. Management domain's core model values if someone has executive level work experience. Your this 2 year is not relevant but you have enough exposure of working as a team player.

Could you please tell me why is it so that the experience always counts if someone does his MBA after doing job for few years?
See,I am working as a Sharepoint Developer but MBA field has nothing to do with Sharepoint.
Then why is it so that I will get some advantage when I sit for job interviews after completing my MBA?
I mean,the two are entirely different domains,then how will my experience in one domain be helpful for the second domain?

I am agree with our expert @Jean :)

If you are engineering graduate and looking your career profile in SharePoint development, then no need to go for MBA. You can focus on technical or professional certifications.

For your information, I am having an MBA. But, it did not helped me till last 3 years. I am using my MBA skills for other aspects outside career.

If you wanted to continue in SharePoint development/administration - the MBA won't help you.

Sir, The main question that is coming to my mind again and again is whether the exposure that I have got during these 2 years about IT industry,will this help when I have completed my MBA and I am looking for a job? Will this experience come good for me? Will I get an added advantage over others if I look for a job after completing my MBA?

If you wanted to pursue a managerial-career, you should go with MBA/PMP etc.

If you wish to excel as developer, usually the qualifications are overridden by experience & specialized skills.

But don't you think that I need to acquire a master degree in order to excel in my career? And I believe that a MBA degree would excel my managerial skills and hence I stand in with a good chance to be recruited by an IT company after I have completed my MBA. Won't my experience of 2 years as a sharepoint developer help me in getting a good post as that of a manager or TL in an IT company once I have completed my MBA?

MBA is a different stream! Only 1 out of 10 companies can consider to give a higher package based on MBA & that too can be a Team Lead or Manager post.

Going in the SharePoint track, you have to scale up to Apps + CSOM skills. I believe the package is peak for these skills. Adding certification 70-488 is also good idea before airing your resume.
