Library for Waveforms

Anyone know of a simple library/control for:
- Rendering data into a graphical waveform
- Analysis of waveform to a signature/type, so that subsequent waveforms can be dispositioned as a particular signature/type.

when you say waveform, do you mean from a sound file? What format are you dealing with? There are plenty of graphical packages for doing plotting of data even free. If you are more specific, maybe we can help.
