learn asp.net web forms or MVC

hey guys i need some help for learning ASP.NET

i search about this topic in google but i saw some very old topics about 9 years ago

i want to know which of asp technology should i learn first ??

in my opinion first i should learn asp.net web forms and then MVC and after that Core.

my opinion is correct or not ?

if not what should i do?

Hi Armin,

About your opinion, starting from web-forms to MVC and then ASP.NET Core.

There's nothing wrong with that. However; this could be a slow progress for you, if you are really a beginner. One reason, there are some old concepts or old usage of technology in web-forms which can be used and/or not applicable in MVC. But why do that, if you can use the latest techniques using MVC. So I do suggest to start with MVC which can be transitioned to ASP.NET Core. If you have started with MVC, once you have looked at a web-forms project you'll probably say: "What a mess?".

However; if you are really interested in web-forms, the concepts of page life cycle, control life cycle, post-back, view-state, System.Web namespace, etc. Are some of the subjects you need to explore in order for you to understand how ASP.NET web-forms work from the ground up.

Hello Armin

If you want to go with mvc or core first learn asp.net mvc and then move on core because asp.net web and asp.net mvc structure is diffrent

1) asp.net web vs asp.net MVC - structure diffrent
2) asp.net mvc VS asp.net core - structure is same (changed some view side and some configuration)

Hi,
You can learn first MVC and then Core.
Nowdays, Asp.Net Web forms is not use by many IT companies usually and Lot of people were left to develop Web Applications in Asp.net Webform. MVC and Core is latest framework than Asp.net framework. So i think you should also upgrade with latest frameworks.

But if you want to learn all then your opinion is correct.
