Issue with Crystal report when not installed

Hello all I have developed an application in winforms where it have some crystal reports. As in my PC I had installed crystal reports there is no issue for me but when I created a setup and running on a new machine which is not having crystal reports I am getting an exception saying

The type initializer for crystaldecisions.shared.shared.utils threw an exception

I copied all my dlls to the installed folder but still getting the issue so can some one help me

What all I need is I would like to install software with out any issues

Yes, runtime is free of cost and can be used freely to distribute among various client machines.

Hi is the crystal report run time is a free software or do I need to purchase. If I need to purchase how much it costs and can I install the software in N number of machines

There are 2 option among to choose
1. You can set the pre requisite to install the crystal report runtime that will install alongwith your setup (no need to install seperately).

2. You can use ReportData (rdlc) which is an embedded part of Visual Studio and doesn't require any special installation on the client machine.

But if I give my software to N number of users I can't ask them to install crystal report run time, is there any other way to view reports

As crystal report is a third party tool of SAP that Visual Studio uses and it is mandatory that their dll must be registered in GAC Assembly

Hi Amit but on the machine I am testing there is only .net framework available. I don't want to install any run time resources for Crystal report but still it should work. The other thing is I could not find crystaldecisions.shared.shared.utils this dll. The only DLL available is crystaldecisions.shared.shared

Please cross check that the crystal report runtime has been installed properly. I just installed the runtime and the program runs perfectly.

However, in previous month, I also faced this type of problem and after wasting the whole day for finding the problem (after installing the runtime) I found thar the problem is on the client machine. I formattes the system and reinstall my application and works perfectly.

Also make sure that you are installing the proper x86/x64 version.

You can also try one more thing by modifying platform to x86 instead of any cpu under the build tab in project properties alongwith that also set the property of cryatal report dll to specificVersion =true;

Hope this helps you to install your application without any glitches.

Installed Support Pack 19 (v.13.0.19.2312 but the issue remains same. I am using Framework 4.5

Have you tried downloading the crystal report runtime as stated in my post?

Installing appropriate (x86 or x64) file according to the machine and it will resolve the issue. Your code is just fine.
