initialization of variables

Instance variables are always initialised to their default value when thei're not assigned to. Static variables are initialised to their default value on first use and when they are not assigned to. Local variables are not initialised to their default value and must be assigned to. I hope this helps

What I wanted to ask is if they are automatically initialised or not. I think instance variables are initialised but mthod variables (those declared inside methods) are not. For static I am not sure.
