Logging is one of the best practices in programming.

Usually a program is not a single entity and is more modular. Therefore, if the program breaks then it becomes a bit cumbersome to find the exact cause of it (via multiple debugging).

We create logs to make sure that whatever part is execute should be logged as successful or unsuccessful with specific reasons for the same. Obviously it can be more detailed if required.

Now, you can either create a txt file on your own and keeps writing log in it or you can make use of a third party component LOG4NETto get your job done.
