how to validate label using required field validator

I have a file upload control, I am using a label controls to show the uploaded file name and file path, I have to validate the label's now, but it is not an input type so required field validator will not accept it to validate, what should i do now

any help please

Here are your options:
You could write a JavaScript or jQuery instead to do validation on your Label control. Otherwise if you're lazy(like me ;)), you can use a TextBox and just apply some CSS to make it look like a Label.

Hi Akshay,
In the above example, control tovalidate has fileupload control.
requiredfield validator will not accept label as control to validate, because it is not input type control.
I have tried it but not success, i tried it with javascript also but no use

Just add a required field validator and on Validate tocontrol put that label 2
just go through that code properly see how they had add required validator on label 1 simalrly uou have to add on that label 2

Thanks for you reply, but it wont work for me
My requirement is I have a upload control and 2 labels ,
when I upload file using upload controller I am displaying file name in label, when I click on submit button, if there no text for label then I should show error message that file upload is mandatory.
for that I am using required field validator but label is not input control so it is not accepting the requiredfield validator
