How to use JSON in C#.net.?

Hi...

we are developing a Windows Store application.

Our application is to fetch the data ( Images, links) and download some files from a JSON Server.

I am wondering why we prefer JSON.
I am new to C# & JSON.

Can any one guide me about JSON & how it is use in C#.net.
