How to set timeout in windows applications?

i want to export nearly 40,000 records into excel

how much timeout period ,i have to set

for small amount of data i was Exported into excel

When i m exporting large amount of data into excel ,i m getting following Error

Error: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server not responding

How to rectify this error

help me

change the timeout settings in app.config file.....

Try setting max value of time out i.e.: 65535 seconds, But its a worst practice. try debugging your code find which statement is taking too much time of execution and why? It could be a bottleneck where client has to wait for server to respond.
