how to retraive charector from textbox

i want to retrive 4th charactor and compair with dropdown item than if the charactore is match to the dropdown item then autometiclly selected item in dropdown list

Try something like this:

if (TextBox1.Text.Length >= 4)
{
string c = TextBox1.Text[3].ToString().ToLower();

for (int i = 0; i < DropDownList1.Items.Count; i++)
{
if (DropDownList1.Items[i].Text.ToLower() == c)
{
DropDownList1.SelectedIndex = i;
break;
}
}
}
