how to set the textbox only for read

 i have one textbox1 and the value of textbox1 coming from texbox2 , textbox1 is only read for user but i can set the property of textbox1 is readOnly=true then the value which is coming from textbox2 in textbox1 is not save in database..

If your intent is to make it read only then use Label control instead of TextBox.
As far as I know ASPNET doesn't remember ViewState for disabled input controls in the page, that's why you can't get the values on PostBacks. You would need to set the readonly attribute in your code behind to make it work. For example:

TextBox1.Attributes.Add("readonly","readonly");
}
protectedvoidButton1_Click(objectsender,EventArgse){
stringstrValue=HttpContext.Current.Request.Form[TextBox1.UniqueID.Replace("_","$")];
Response.Write(strValue);
}

I could not understand your issue. If you want to set txtbox1 to read only , try this code before passing value into textbox1:-

textbox1 .ReadOnly = true;

Your question is not much clear but Readonly will allow the user to copy text from it. Disabled will not.
