You can make same query into a function as below -

CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[FindBirthday]

(

@birthdaydate datetime

)

RETURNS int

AS

BEGIN

declare @days as int

IF(@birthdaydate is not null )

BEGIN

SET @days=(SELECT DATEDIFF(d,getdate(),@birthdaydate));

END

return @days;

END

GO

Now you can get days using below query -

SELECT dbo.FindBirthday('12/25/2016');
