How do I upgrade .Net Framework from version 3.5 to version 4.6.1

Support for 4.6.1 will end in April 2022, you might have to upgrade next year again. I would recommend to upgrade to 4.6.2 or 4.7

Visual Studio 2013 or higher will have these frameworks installed. You can used VS 203 or above versions

Hi Sachin , my existing windows project is with VS 2010 ,to upgrade it to 4.6.1 ,I need to open with VS 2015? Am I correct ??? please suggest

I don't think migrating from 3.5 to 4.6 will cause any error, yes some libraries may need to update.

so, copy the project to some other location so that if anything goes wrong you won't lose the project.

then open the project (visual studio)---> right-click---> go to properties---> change the framework from 3.5 to 4.6.

Build the project, at this point, you might see 100s of errors, just change the version of packages from old to new inside the package's file.
