hidden program

Hello, To communicate to GUI interface you can send messsage or you can use named pipe mechanism. This is high level solution but very robust solution.

The user will be notified when the program is running in the pc and ther users account running the program are usually not administrator type. Other than implement it as a windows services, can anyone tell me can i set my application's permission to only can close by administrator in windows XP pro ?thank you

All depends on the original posters intended use of the program. If the program is to be used in an environment where the "powers that be" have authorized such a program be installed, and the users of said computer systems have been properly notified, then this is a valid program. "System Auditing" is becoming more common in corporate america. Few companies get it right [from a legal aspect] but they are getting better. On the other hand, other uses of the program could range from morally wrong to downright illegal. If this is the case, then a post such as the previous one could be used as legal evidence of intent..... Remember once something is posted on the internet, it is virtually impossible to destroy it!

the reason that i want to do that because i am creating a program that similar to spyware, my program will spying on the client's current runinng program and capture alll IE url and send to the administrator, by the same time, i need to provide a GUI interface to client that allow client to send a message to the administrator. If the user close the program, all this function will not able to work, i am thinking to implement it as a windows services, but how can i incorporate the send message GUI interface with the services? can anyone give me some idea??

So then you would extent that to mean that all of the services provided by microsoft [I just counted 48 running on one of my machines] should be visible and running on the desktop? Every user (i.e. not administrators) should be able to see (and manipulate) things like: IIS, Internet Connection Service, Power Management, SQL Server...the list just goes on and on... I think the opposite is true, a user should be able to see and touch as little as possible at all times.

You can do that, but what makes me wonder is WHY you'd want to do that. There's really no reason to hide the execution of a legitimate program beyond trivial cosmetic concerns.

Sorry elite, but the answer is actually yes...with a vew cavaets.... First, make sure you are running Win2000 or Win2003....Then just implement it as a service. Youi can get pretty close with XP, but there will be loopholes...
