help with arrays

One way to do it is to first sort the array. Then compare the value of each array element with the one before it. If it's different, print it; if not, skip it.

I want to generate 4 set of 3 unique numbers in random and sort those numbers in acsending order.

This looks remarkably like a homework problem... Since I think it's best for you to try your own hand at developing algorithms, here's a generic hint: Try to minimize the number of times you have to get the value of a number in the array. If you do the search for duplicates every time you print a number, you'll be accessing values at best 210 times before you have the individual numbers you want to print. If you make passes through the array and add non-duplicates to a separate array, you'll make 210 reads in the worst case scenario, and in the best case scenario of every number being the same, 39 reads (19 passes over the second list and 20 reads from the source array). Now, I have in mind a way in which you are guaranteed exactly 20 reads in both best and worst case scenarios before you know exactly which numbers to print out. I'll leave you to your own devices to figure that one out. This is problem solving, and if you plan to do any programming you better start practicing now.

I think you could use the different searching algorithms.

Sara, you can create a second array. First loop through the original array of 20 numbers, as you read each number, loop through the second array to see if the second array has the number already, if not, print it and store it in the second array. Jan
