Set the ID as the DataKeyName for your GridView and then add set ShowSelectButton to true for your GridView:

AutoGenerateColumns="False"
DataKeyNames="ID"
OnSelectedIndexChanged="GridView1_SelectedIndexChanged" >

Then you do like this at SelectedIndexChanged event:

void GridView1_SelectedIndexChanged(Object sender, EventArgs e){

string ID = GridView1.DataKeys[GridView1.SelectedIndex].Value.ToString();

//use the ID to populate second gridview here

}
