Get excel file from sharepoint,edit and save as CSV

I am no where realted to sharepoint or microsoft.

I am asked to get the excel file from sharepoint,edit value in it,save as CSV file.

I have to use that CSV file to move ahead in this project.

So i am struck with step 1.

How can i get the excel file from sharepoint?Its going to be daily process.

I heard that powershell can login to sharepoint and get the excel file?AM i correct?

Someone please guide me with these steps.I am completely blank till i get my CSV file.

Are you allowed to use SSIS package. SSIS package is provided with SQL server and can easily connect with sharepoint list and cqan give you a CSV file directly and can even generaye an excel file awhich can be converted into CSV as well and migrated to any specified location.

Yes I can download it from SharePoint directly. But we have to automate the process such that on daily basis,login from PowerShell to SharePoint,get the excel file,run through the workbooks and save them as individual CSV files. I am.able to run through the excel.file located in local folder and save as CSV file. But I am.not able to login to SharePoint to get the excel file . Please guide me how can I login to SharePoint,go to particular folder to get the excel file.and proceed with rest of .

Hi,

Are you trying to export excel file from sharepoint? if yes, you can download directly from sharepoint using download option.

If no, you have an option to export the file as an excel (refer if you have new version of sharepoint- http://sharepointmaven.com/export-sharepoint-excel/).
