FTP through Firewall

Do you actually want to write code to FTP or are you looking for information in general? Depending on the ftp firewall, there can be up to 4(?) different formats for URL-formatted ftp addresses, where I think the most common one is: ftp://username:[email protected] and when you're prompted for a username and password, it will be your firewall's login information you provide. But... that's in the few firewalls I've worked with. There are many and as mentioned, I know of up to 4 different formats just on one of them. Check with your sysadmins for more definitive information or see if they can support a socks wrapper or other such "exception to the rule" type handling for you. If you actually wnat to write code to do FTP, I highly and strongly suggest you don't bother pulling that much hair out to reinvent that tired old wheel. THere are ways to do what you want without getting any closer to real code than a dos batch file or a *nix script. Your sysadmins really should provide you something.
