Hello Expert,

I am little bit confuse about HandleErrorAttribute is Action Filter or Exception Filter. If it Exception Filter then what is ExceptionFilterAttribute.

Please let me know HandleErrorAttribute vs ExceptionFilterAttribute.

HandleErrorAttribute is exception filter which is used to handle exception raised or thrown by an action method

HandleErrorAttribute is typically used in ASP.NET MVC to handle exceptions. To implement the same way in ASP.NET Web API, you have to implement the ExceptionFilterAttribute. In essence, Exception filters in ASP.NET Web API are similar to those in ASP.NET MVC. However, they are declared in a separate namespace and function separately. In particular, the HandleErrorAttribute class used in MVC does not handle exceptions thrown by Web API controllers.
