Encapsulation?

I dont understand encapsulation at all. What do we use it for and why?

You always use Encapsulation in your applications by default. Having private, protected variables and being exposed as public properties are encapsulation. Basically, you don't expose your variables but you expose them or their relative values though public properties so calling application of a class doesn't really know what happens within the scope of setting that properties. Please read the above suggested article or search this site for "encapsulation" keyword and you will find several articles.
