OLTP and OLAP are the two online processing systems. OLTP is transaction processing whereas OLAP is an analytical processing system. OLTP is a system that manages applications oriented towards Internet transactions, for example ATM. OLAP is an online system that responds to multidimensional analytical queries such as financial reporting, forecasting, etc. The key difference between OLTP and OLAP is that OLTP is a system that is used to make database changes online.
