Development or further studies?

I am working as a .Net developer, I have decided to do MS leading to PhD in Software Engineering What is your Suggestion? should I quit  development or not?? I  have to spend 5 years to complete PhD.

First of all, please change question category to Career Advice.
Coming to your question, I am no pro but still I would suggest something.
Ask two questions,
1. What is my ultimate goal ( or what I want to be ) once I complete Ms -> PhD?
2. Am I doing it for better future or doing it to dedicate my study to Society (considering your current financial situation).
These two would be suffice to get started on the stuff.
As a side note, there is a option available for the part time studies but it is up to individual to take a decision.

Hi,
It depends on your priorities, passion, finance available. If there is no financial issue and it is ok to spend 5 years then I would do PhD. PhD is always preferable.
Also, it is always better as soon as we do the studies rather than doing job for few years and then again go to studies, my experience says it never work out.
