combo boxes and locked property

All i have a combo box that i lock depending on the certain factors. what i really need though is that when i lock the control for the control to still remain white and not go to the windows system control colour. is their a property somewhere to control the look and feel of the control when locked or do i have to make a custom control to deal with this cheers keith

just an update seems to be a bug in the combo box. in the background property. i have selected window. if this is not in bold then when you enable =false then it turns the whole control grey. if the background property is again window but it is in bold then the control will be locked but it will look the same as it does when enabled. the text changes colour slightly. to get the property into bold then you need to select a different value and then reselect window. not sure why this is a problem. i am using .net 2003 with all service patches cheers

this problem existed in vb6 as well, work around to this is place the combobox on a panel (it was pictureboxes in vb6) and instead of locking the combobox, lock out the panel.
